Meet Dr Berne

If Dr Berne is not 100% confident with the treatment, or if the treatment is not reversible he will not perform it.

Dr Berne is very concerned with the health and wellbeing of his patients and the foundation of his philosophy is a holistic approach to dentistry based on the connection between oral and overall health.

He is an approved Oral Surgeon under the Health Insurance Act (Australia), and runs a private general practice with a large referral base for oral surgery, implant dentistry and major reconstructive dentistry, head, neck and facial pain, and intravenous sedation. He also provides ongoing dentistry for many of those patients with disabilities in his community, including many with such severe disabilities that regular dentistry has previously become impossible.

He has been involved in general dentistry in his community for over 40 years and implant dentistry for over 36 years, with experience in most modalities. He has been using intravenous sedation procedures in his practice since 1973, and has lectured at the Australian Society of Anaesthesiology’s Scientific Programme on a number of occasions.

He has also lectured on a number of other dental topics, including Dentofacial Orthopaedics and Implant Dentistry, both locally and overseas and has run regular Dental Implant courses with the surgical component performed at his Beecroft Centre.

He regularly has visiting dentists, both locally and from overseas, at his practice to observe various aspects of his work, and always welcomes bona fide visitors.

In addition to his dental practice, he provides community service through Rotary International, being a Past President, and being rewarded for his efforts with a Paul Harris Fellowship. He also has been involved actively in public dental education, and provides preventive and introductory talks to the community and to school children as part of a preventive dentistry programme.
